Twenty Drawings (1919) serves as the first major visual introduction to the ethereal, symbolist art of Kahlil Gibran, published shortly before his literary masterpiece, The Prophet. The collection features a series of delicate, wash-style illustrations that blend Western Romanticism with Eastern mysticism, often centering on the human form in states of spiritual transcendence or profound longing. Rather than serving as literal depictions of specific events, these drawings function as visual poems, utilizing soft, flowing lines and ghostly figures to explore themes of soul-unity, the divine, and the struggle between the earthly and the infinite.
