About The Motivational Classics Collection: As a Man Thinketh; Acres of Diamonds; & The Science of Getting Rich (Unabridged)

The New Thought movement of the 19th century played a pivotal role in the rise of motivational literature regarding the interaction of thought, belief, consciousness, and the effects of these within and beyond the human mind. In the 20th century, the works of Napoleon Hill and Dale Carnegie further developed the genre. Motivational books cultivate a positive attitude which is the key to enduring success and happiness. Book One: As a Man Thinketh is an inspirational book by James Allen, first published in 1903. It deals with the power of thought, and particularly with the use and application of thought to create happy and prosperous circumstances. The writing is simple, so that all can easily grasp the teachings and put the methods into practice. It shows how each person holds the key to every condition in their lives, and how, by working patiently and intelligently upon their thoughts, they may remake their circumstances. Book Two: Russell Herman Conwell (1843-1925) was a Baptist minister, orator, philanthropist, and lawyer. In Acres of Diamonds , Conwell shows that success is a spiritual idea - the result of adhering to spiritual principles. Based on a speech originally delivered as a lecture to raise money for what would become Temple University, this book is about raising awareness of potential riches that exists around one, an idea which helps to broaden the individual’s perspective. The speech refers to the story of a man who sells his farm to travel far and wide in search of diamonds, when a rich lode of diamonds was, in fact, on the land that he had sold. Acres of Diamonds states the author’s core belief, that each of us is placed here on earth for the primary purpose of serving others. Book Three: The Science of Getting Rich by the New Thought Movement author Wallace D. Wattles was published in 1910 and is still in print. This book is based on guiding one’s thoughts towards cultivating creativity and faith. It includes chapters on gratitude and how to use the will. The author explains how creation instead of competition is the hidden key to wealth attraction.
