About The Hyperborean Cycle

The Hyperborean Cycle is a series of short stories by Clark Ashton Smith that take place in the fictional prehistoric setting of Hyperborea. The stories were first published between 1931 and 1958, by magazines such as Strange Tales of Mystery and Terror, and Weird Tales. Consisting of 10 stories: The Tale of Satampra Zeiros "The story of a thief and his companion in search of treasure in the former capital of Hyperborea." The Door to Saturn "Beyond sea and sky the wizard Eibon pursues his outlandish wanderings." The Weird of Avoosl Wuthoqquan "A fantastic tale of two magnificent emeralds and how they returned to the vampiric entity that owned them." The Testament of Athammaus "The state executioner's story of an incredible monstrosity that struck terror to an entire city." The Ice-Demon "The story of a hunter who seeks to plunder jewels from a glacial tomb." Ubbo-Sathla "The tale of a man, who, in a state of trance, ventures back to the very beginning of time, where he encounters the primal one, Ubbo-Sathla." The White Sybil "He knew that he had seen the White Sybil, that mysterious being who was rumored to come and go as if by some preterhuman agency in the cities of Hyperborea." The Seven Geases "The story of a huntsman's adventures in the strange caverns of the Tsathoggua worshippers, the Voormis." The Coming of the White Worm "The tale concerns the victim of a monstrous entity’s scourge, and his quest to unravel the secret of the beast." The Theft of the Thirty-Nine Girdles "The thief Satampra Zeiros hunts for sacred treasure."
