The last place any of us expected the newest mage to come from was the past and a book. But Olin’s arrival has brought answers. He knows why some mages can do magic and why some cannot. We all came to Europe to get answers about magic and our history, and that’s exactly what we’re getting, in the most unexpected ways. While we scour Germany, France, Scotland, and other countries for information and books, Nathaniel and I shakily try to repair what has broken between us. But I’ve noticed something new in Borden’s eyes when he looks at me. We make a good team. What would have happened if I had met Borden first? I’m no longer a student, and this is a new phase of life. I am determined to take care of my newfound family, and that involves a lot of alchemy and real world moves in finding us a safe home. But someone in our group isn’t telling the whole truth about their past, and now every one of our lives is on the line.
