Set against the backdrop of the fall of Granada, the book follows the lives of three generations of a family whose fates were altered by the event. Through the dramatic changes in the lives of key figures, it attempts to depict the struggles, cries, and choices individuals faced in a rapidly changing era regarding national crisis, the survival of faith, and the continuity of culture. It recreates the history from the Spanish army's entry into Granada in 1491 to the expulsion of Arab Muslims from Andalusia in the early 17th century, recounting the changes and experiences of five generations of an ordinary Arab Muslim family living in Granada. It records the suffering and calamities endured by Muslims after the Granada Wars and, through this retelling of history, reflects on the fate of Arab women and the fate of the nation.
