The mummy is revealed to be T'yog, a high priest from the lost continent of Mu who, 175,000 years ago, attempted to confront the monstrous god Ghatanothoa—a Cthulhu-spawn whose mere sight petrifies any beholder into a living, conscious shell of stone while the brain remains horrifyingly alive within. T'yog's protective scroll was secretly swapped by rival priests, dooming him to eternal petrified awareness. When investigators finally X-ray the mummy, they discover a still-living human brain inside the stone body, and gruesome deaths begin to plague those connected to the exhibit.
