What might those diaries reveal from the minds of Mr Darcy, Miss Elizabeth Bennet and others who were at the heart of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”? I have imagined that Mr Darcy discovered love long before he knew what it was, becoming acquainted with a young lady in a chance meeting. He is a man envied and admired for his circumstance, an icon of wealth and privilege. But life is rarely as perfect as it appears to the uninitiated, and tragedy or near tragedy is a constant companion. He is considered proud and cold by those who do not know him. He has few friends, and he has an implacable enemy who would take everything from him. But with all the challenges he faces, Darcy cannot forget his first acquaintance with that young lady. He must find her again.
