How many sausages does it take to change a light bulb? For Jimmy, a fifth-year college senior who dreams of walking the stage to receive his sausage-making diploma, the answer is obvious: Only one, but it's best to have a second just in casing. In his world, where lowbrow humor holds court with high expectations — and pigs live alongside humans as social equals — it's all he can do to reach that lofty goal without stumbling. But stumble he does when, standing in line at the registrar's office, he encounters a vision of loveliness known as Petunia. What begins as a casual slip of fate quickly turns into an infatuation that changes him from the inside out. At first, the two seem entirely mismatched.
