About the Author: Australian folklorist, literary critic, social scientist, historian, and writer of English literature Joseph Jacobs (29 August 1854 – 30 January 1916) also became a well-known collector and publisher of English folklore. Jacobs was born into a Jewish household in Sydney. Some of the most well-known translations of English fairy tales, such as "Jack and the Beanstalk", "Goldilocks and the Three Bears", "The Three Little Pigs", "Jack the Giant Killer", and "The History of Tom Thumb" were made famous by his work.
