With little warning, war bleeds into Stormheim, disrupting life for Kari and Tove. Rune knows better than to interfere in the lives of mortals, but when Kari is struck with an almost fatal arrow, Rune breaks her oath and flies the injured seeress on her pegasus to Valhalla: the realm for the bravest warriors killed in battle. Kari, though, is no warrior, and most importantly, she isn't dead. As Rune enters Valhalla, she soon understands her costly mistake. Kari, on the other hand, finds that life on the other side of the veil offers her things she has always dreamt of and refuses to return to her own realm. As the two women wage war over where Kari should ultimately reside, an unexpected love begins to blossom, fueled by the chaos of the unknown.
