The Story Long ago, in the hills of Bethlehem, there lived a young shepherd boy named Amos. Amos was only eight years old but already helped his family care for their flock of sheep. His favourite sheep was a little lamb named Star. Star was different from the others, with a soft white coat that gleamed like the morning sun and a tiny patch of grey on her nose. Amos and Star were inseparable. Whenever Amos played his flute by the pastures, Star would prance around happily, as if she understood the music. One chilly evening, Amos’s father, Joel, returned from the village market with exciting news. "The Messiah has been born!" Joel announced to the family. "The Messiah?" Amos asked, his wide eyes reflecting the flickering firelight. "Yes," Joel replied. "A Savior, sent by God, has come into the world! Angels even appeared to the shepherds to proclaim His birth. They said the child is in Bethlehem, wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger." Amos’s heart swelled with wonder. The Messiah? Could it really be true? The next day, Amos couldn’t stop thinking about the baby. He overheard his parents talking about bringing gifts to the Messiah. His father planned to take freshly baked bread, and his mother would carry a warm blanket she had woven. Amos wanted to bring a gift, too, but what could a young shepherd boy offer to a king? He had no gold, no fine spices, and no treasures. As he tended the sheep that afternoon, Amos watched Star play among the wildflowers. An idea struck him. I’ll give Star to the Messiah!
