Despite this seeming lack of application, he would go on to become one of the literary leviathans of American Modernism. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1949 as well as two Pulitizer prizes and was a prolific Hollywood screenwriter. William Faulkner died on the 6th July 1962 in Byhalia, Mississippi. He was 64.
